Those in Atoms, Molecules and Solids should already have a good idea of what I'm talking about. Prof. Stoicheff loves to use this phrase whenever he gets the oppurtunity. He commonly uses the phrase to replace more common words such as therefore, morever and then. Some would find this kind of annoying but it is sort of the one thing that keeps me awake in class, just waiting for him to say it one more time.... Lo and Behold...
I've been trying to keep count, I will update this page as often as I can. Special thanks goes out to all those who turn around and remind from time to time to keep track.
Jan. 11 (6) | Jan. 17 (6) | Jan. 19 (9) | Jan. 24 (5) | Jan. 26 (0) WOW! | Jan. 31 (6) | Feb. 2 (1) | Feb. 7 (4) | Feb. 9 (2) | Reading Week | Feb. 21 (1) | Feb. 23 (9) .. no more....
Total = 49 ... keeping in mind I missed a few in the beginning..As this is a physics course the natural thing is to analyze the data.
Total = 49, Mean = 4.45, Standard Deviation = 3.14
What happened on Jan. 26th? - something must have happened on that day. Perhaps Prof. Stoicheff ate something different for breakfast, got out of bed differently, wasn't feeling well, whatever it was it scared me to be quite honest. I almost had no reason to come to class anymore. But luckily he recovered and came back with 6 strong Lo and Beholds on the 31st. For those who may think the lecture material may have played a factor he was covering first order perturbation and variational theory. I don't see the material explaining the change in lo and beholds but if you can think of something send me an e-mail and I'd be happy to consider any theories that you may have.
To avoid problems like the 26th I've been trying to develop a line of questioning that will lead the professor to a Lo and Behold. One may consider this fudging data but we need to maintain a nice daily average to bring our count up to a good number. Again, much help is needed on this issue so if you think you may have developed a good line of questioning I suggest giving it a try. It's sure to be entertaining whether it works or not.
