Well not exactly hi-res unless you get into the more serious CRT based
HMD's. There is the iglassesx2 and the PROTEC color VGA with 640x480.

" the i-glasses with x2
proprietary optical doubling system,
doubling the resolution of the I-glasses X2 TM to
360,000 pixels per eye. The i-glasses X2 TM plugs into
most video sources including DVD, laserdisc, VCR,
cable or satellite service and are particularly well suited
to industrial or commercial applications requiring
increased resolution at a moderate price."

....AND the there's the PROTEC color VGA at 640x480. (more below)

Let me if you need more info. I 'm the editor of NEWBREED (working title) by
WoW!Online a new emailed publication about new breed tech in CG/VR and
related converging tech like AI, VH, SIM etc. Since WoW!Online is associated
with NEWBREED Consultants through whom a lot of VR tech especially HMD's can
be gotten, I have access to most info on most HMD's. I also have a fair
amount of experience with displays.

Over time I've pretty well tried nearly every wearable display except the
private-eye (which as far as I know was discontinued a long time back) and
the Scuba-FX. My opinions; On the low-end I always liked the CyberMaxx2.0
because of the price and the FOV. Too bad they cut it just when they almost
had a product going. I still have one. The best is the iglasses for video.
Actually haven't tried the x2 of the PROTEC but will soon. The new
manufacturer is definitely doing a better job than Virtual i-O did in my
opinion. The Virtual Research line-up (VR4 and up) is good middle ground
between the low and hi end in my book if you can afford it. They also offer
good support. I remember a few years back their talking me through on
long-distance while I took apart an EyeGen and fixed it! Someone mentioned
the O1 which BTW is the basis of the products from General Reality. I always
use n-vision headmounts (dual CRT) as a milestone to compare anything else
to and work my way down from there. Also Virtuality has the relatively new
Dynavisor(gaming mostly) & the VRD. As for screenbound 3D I use SIMULEYES
which are great for the buck.

We could put together a comprhesive list with spec sheets of nearly
everything out there. I have pics too.
