Thinkpad modifications needed

Hi everyone!

I can get my hands on a real cheap IBM Thinkpad 340 and was
thinking of using it a wearable in a backpack.
Now I'm wondering what steps I would have to take to operate
it without opening it? Of course I would have a twiddler and a HMD
(perhaps the reflection P5?) connected to the VGA port on it.
This would be a very cheap and easy solution for me as the
laptop would only cost me around $200-$300.
Are there any (relatively) simple modifications one could do or
is it too complicated for someone not very much into electrical
engineering?
If anyone can help me it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

      Pawel Wiechowski
