If you are a hardware+software hacker I would suggest that you buy a
refurbished FaxView 2000 from Reflection http://www.reflection.com
and remove the P5 display. They will charge you $249 for such a one.
Don't expect the adaptation to be easy though.. I intend to try this
myself, if I will not consider myself to afford a color display, they
will probably soon fall in price.
