I can attest to this, as I signed up with Metricom last month.
I am in the Seattle area, and they cover from Everett to Federal Way,
and From the San Juan's to Issaquah. Which is a pretty sizable area.
(Any locals wanna take a guess at sq. miles?? )

I am getting 38.6 connections from home.

I got the desktop model, which is a $99 dollar 1 time unlimited lifetime
rental fee (Ie while you still have service)

Then it's 29.95 /month unlimited.

If you wish to go truly mobile, you can either buy the modem (~$300US) or
I believe you can rent it for ~$15US /month.

Then the $29.95US /month for connectivity..
