How's about lines of tattoos made with magnetic ink acting as cables?
You could have tasteful piercings of rings, grommets, bars ets as
terminals for electronic parts of the kit.

Your whole body could become a circuit board.
It would also have the advantage of acting as a heating element in
     cold climates.

Sorry, just a Friday afternoon flight of fancy.

I think that an M1 or another device hanging in front of a persons eye
would
be much more of an attraction than a small strand of fiber.

It seems that we are creating our dream displays in this thread. Let me
add
that I too have thought that a contact based display will be the most
pleasing to the
wearer and public. If it could be made, I would go farther to say that
there would be
no need for fiber hanging out of our eyes. Why not just run it under
the skin
to a base port in your neck. I'm not sure how you could remove the
contacts
at night but there must be a way. Does anyone else believe that after
wearable
computing the next step is human-embedded computing?

We might have much more than fiber under our skin.

Although a good thought Jacob, I personally would look at someone with
a
(albeit thin) wire coming out of his eye, rather strangely.
