Mark -->On Timeline: We must be looking at different machines. An agent tool of mine pulled up a former POS computer named "timeline" in surplus from some parts place selling for $99. It speced out far different that your last. As percents figure, I guessed it was the same. Let me know what you turn up! Other than the CardPC and the PC/104 stackables, are there any other CPU's that have a good following here? I'm putting togeather a new unit, based mostly on the Lizzy design (always liked the work of those MIT guys!) but I want to get a better feal for anything I may have overlooked before I build again Also, has anyone done any work on sensors other than video for use with a wearable? I am itching to build the new wearable on a more standard set of I/O then work I've done in the past, so I'm going PC/104 this time. I'd like to move on to a sort of "object-proximity" real-time monitor for use in my auto. Simple is good, so I'm thinking of a number of sensors (ultrasound?) mounted on a car operating as a simgle device (microcontrolled) that provide a 2D plane bi-section of any solid objects near the auto, updated at a rate of 18+ times a sec.....I'm working on the linux drivers for such a device now, but it's all draft, and I have yet to work on the device itself. The applications could then be console based, or, later, when MGR or X11R6 and more complex displays become cheeper, a virtual HUD might be in order. Thoughts? Links? But on sensors again, I'd be interested in any URLs to work done interoping wearables with environment aware devices (weather conditions, radio waves, range finding, radar detection, etc) I have a GPS and will be building drivers for use with it when I get the new wearable built, but expect to have problems with the wireless link. Any problems noted with 2.4G spectrum and ultra close proximity to the transimitter noted for either the wearables/devices/person? What sort of wattages are in use?
