Re: Timeline $99 machine

Last I read the specs, this 486sx33 motherboard has one slot for a
{non-EDO AFAIK} standard 72 pin SIMM, so it has an upper limit of 32
MEGABYTES (not 32k!) of main RAM; Admittedly, no L2 cache, and the (8k
was it) of L1 cache on the 486 CPU - it isn't going to be a "speed
demon", but for $100 for a starter machine, that isn't half bad... 1
ISA slot gives optionally the capability to add a needed <whatever>
which is nice!
"Onboard VGA video" implies 256k (or more) RAM, doesn't it? The faxes
I received stated 256 colors at 640x480 | 800x600, & 16 colors at
1024x768; these numbers imply the presence of WELL over 64k of video
RAM! Mainly I need "memory agent" text database functionality, text
only such as the P5 display is fine with me, anything better is a plus.
[I'd love the eyeglasses display, of course!] Your needs may vary! And
I may well build a better, faster machine, once I learn what I'll really
want the machine to do, as opposed to what I am GUESSING I'll want the
machine to do - I may find I want lots more, or that this is
sufficient. I'll start with a 486sx33 & work up from there...

Are you maybe confusing the TimeLine machine with the GameBoy thread?
I'm confused here, as those numbers you mention sure don't match what
I've been posting!
