After some simple experimenting, I've decided to attempt to prototype a HUD if I can find one component off-the-shelf. What I am looking for is the smallest possible surface mount LED matrix anywhere from 90x8 up to 120x80. If I can't find a small enough LED chip, I'll go ahead with with a series of larger 8x12 chips running remotely through fibre optics, but given my (not so happy) experience working with fibre optics, this is a last resort.
