I don't know how many messages between Gregory Pfeil and myself have been copied to the wear-hard group, but we have been trying to get a newsgroup started on usenet for people on this mailing list that would prefer a newsgroup format to our discussions and to attract people interested in discussing wearables who aren't aware of this mailing list. This would also answer the need some people have expressed for archives of the list. The initial RFD (Request For Discussion) never went to vote, but there were suggestions that the group be moderated, rather than unmoderated. I've revised the RFD to request a moderated group and I think if it goes to a vote we should get it added without any problems. I've put the RFD up at: http://reg16.admin.rochester.edu/~mccarty/comp.sys.wearables.html Right now, Gregory and I are listed as moderators and I would like to add some additional moderators to the request to spread out the work of approving messages. I'm also looking at robot-moderator (proc-mail) scripts to automatically moderate 90% of the messages so moderating the group might entail getting a few messages a day which need to be looked at and approved if they are relevant to the group. If you would like to be added as a moderator, please let me know and I will add you to the RFD. Also, if there are suggestions about changes to the RFD before I submit this please let me know. I will post this sometime next week and then about 2 weeks later there will be a vote. Also, if someone would like to host the site where we can automatically moderate the group with a script that would be fantastic, otherwise I will have to find an account somewhere where I can set up the bot for a long period of time. Thanks for any feedback. -Paul R.
