I don't think this would qualify as "low profile", but
you might want to check this out (watch the line wrap):
10in USB Right Angle Extension Cable USB-A for M (90
Deg) $ 5.42
http://www.provantage.com/buy-7TRPA18N-tripp-lite-cables-connectivity-10in-usb-right-angle-extension-cable-m-90-deg-u005-10i-shopping.htm
Apparently the same product, but at a higher price...
but it includes a picture:
10'' USB Right Angle Ext. Cable $6.95
http://www.computers4sure.com/Product.asp?ProductId=1743490&iid=328
It's probably about the same amount of protrusion as
the flex connector that someone else pointed out, but
without moving parts, and 10 inches of extension included.
Regards,
Earl
