Yes, but there are only a few out there.

For wearable apps distance is not really an issue - throughput is.

One thing that we have been wrestling with is the problems associated =
with
moving away from a "standard" protocol.  The benefit with sticking with
Bluetooth, ZigBee or Wi-Fi is that you are not really locked into a =
vendor.
If the vendor goes out of business or the product just sucks you can =
move to
another vendor without having to retool your entire setup.

The issue with a "proprietary" radio is that you are not only locking =
into
the vendor you are also locked into the protocol as well. Double whammy =
if
the company stops making the product. The benefit is that you will =
probably
get a solution that suits your application perfectly.
