Something like the Sony U-50 but better (the U-50 has no DP> audio and captures 15-second 160x115 or something video at about DP> 15 fps). As seen on engadget.com, the latest member of the Philips Key Ring USB device family is the KEY019, a 2MP digital camera, plus it can record up to 24 minutes of MPEG-4 video, as well as play back MP3s. I have the original VGA resolution digital camera model, and it's tres nifty, as convenient to take impromptu pictures with as a camera phone, or more. The KEY019 has a built-in microphone, 128MB of memory, charges directly from USB, and shows up as a USB removable memory device when it's plugged in, with the video and movies and such directly accessible as files. One assumes the "MPEG-4 video" is 3GPP, just as mobile phone video recordings are, but I can do 15FPS 160x120 "High" quality video with audio on my Nokia 3650, and the quality is respectable, especially considering the device. While you probably can't take pictures while it's plugged in (you can't with the VGA camera, so I can only assume it's the same with this updated model), the KEY019 has a remote. I assume you could hack the remote up to a serial port to automate picture and video taking, and perhaps even turn on and off your USB port via software in order to switch the device between camera and disk drive modes, making it pretty much what Don is looking for. The form factor is such that you could wear it as a pendant on your lapel or chest, even. Wear more than one!
